1. Types of Agricultural Pumps
Clean Water Pumps
For irrigation, water supply, and clean water transfer.
GTFI: SP series (gasoline), SP-D series (diesel), 2-8 inch
High-Pressure Pumps
For high-rise irrigation and long-distance water delivery.
GTFI: SHP series, up to 85m head
Sewage Pumps
For dirty water, drainage, and flood control.
GTFI: STP series, 2-4 inch
Chemical Pumps
For fertilizers, pesticides, and corrosive liquids.
GTFI: SP-DC series, corrosion-resistant
2. How to Calculate Flow Rate and Head
Two critical parameters determine which pump you need:
- Flow Rate (m³/h): The volume of water you need to move per hour. Calculate based on your irrigation area and crop water requirements.
- Total Head (m): The vertical distance water must be lifted plus friction losses in pipes. Includes suction lift + discharge height + friction loss.
Example: To irrigate 1 hectare of crops requiring 50mm of water per week, you need approximately 500m³/week or 70m³/day. A pump with 3-5m³/h flow rate is suitable.
3. Gasoline vs Diesel Pump Engines
- Gasoline: Lighter, quieter, lower upfront cost. Good for small farms and occasional use.
- Diesel: More fuel-efficient, longer lifespan, higher torque. Better for large farms and daily use.
- GTFI engines: S20, S200, S390 (gasoline); S173F, S178F, S186FA (diesel).
4. Self-Priming vs Non-Self-Priming
- Self-Priming: Can pull water from a source below the pump level. Ideal for drawing water from ponds, rivers, or wells.
- Non-Self-Priming: Requires the pump to be filled with water before starting. Typically used where the water source is above the pump.
- GTFI pumps: Most agricultural pumps are self-priming with up to 8m suction lift.
5. Pump Selection by Application
- Irrigation (clean water): SP-305 (3 inch, 60m³/h) or SP405D (4 inch, 80m³/h)
- High-rise irrigation / long distance: SHP50DEI (85m head, 35m³/h)
- Drainage / flood control: STP305B (3 inch sewage pump, 60m³/h)
- Fertilizer / chemical application: SP50DC (2 inch chemical pump, 36m³/h)
- Large-scale irrigation: SP-805BE-1 (8 inch, 242m³/h) or SP605DE-1 (6 inch, 200m³/h)
6. GTFI Agricultural Pump Range
